Upon completing middle school, See Pon was granted a second ITDF scholarship, enabling her to pursue a high school education. This opportunity ignited a desire within her to give back, inspired by her challenges. She envisioned returning to her village to uplift others facing similar
struggles. Although she wasn’t entirely sure how this would materialize, her determination to obtain an education remained steadfast. “Even if I didn’t become a teacher, I could hold my
head high with the knowledge and skills to thrive and have a voice in Thai society,” she
proudly declared.

As graduation approached in 12th grade, See Porn knew she had to press onward to university. With her parents only able to contribute a small amount financially, she faced another hurdle. Yet her unwavering focus and solid academic performance allowed her to apply again for an ITDF
scholarship for higher education. With this support, she felt a step closer to realizing her dreams.

Throughout her studies, See Pon developed a clear vision of becoming a teacher, aspiring to return to her village or another hill tribe community. Her personal experiences would allow her to connect deeply with her future students and inspire them to overcome obstacles. “Even city students would laugh at my Thai accent, leaving me ashamed. I want to encourage others in my culture to keep trying and not listen to the voices of others.” she shared with heartfelt sincerity.

Embarking on her journey to major in Social Studies, See Pon discovered a passion for history and its relevance to contemporary life. Adjusting to city life was a significant transition; she humorously recalled, “I had never even seen a traffic light before!” Her love for reading and insatiable thirst for knowledge guided her to graduate with a degree in Social Studies and a teaching credential. With graduation behind her, See Pon pondered the next steps in her journey toward a brighter future.

Leaning on her faith, she prayed for guidance and soon learned of teaching positions at Ma Oh Jo School, near her home village—where her educational journey began. After a successful interview, she secured a teaching position, ready to embrace this new chapter in her life. See Pon’s story is a testament to perseverance, hope, and the transformative power of education. Thanks to the support of donors, she is now equipped to teach and inspire the next generation in her community, proving that overcoming adversity is possible with determination, support, and faith
